What is the best teeth whitening product on the market?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

I was a smoker and always promised myself once I quit I would whiten my teeth…they aren’t horrible, just are a very fainy yellow. Enough for me to notice being I see myself everyday. Anyways, I was wondering waht is the best teeth whitening product on the market without a prescription/dr’s visit?

Crest strips are great. I’ve been using them for 4 years, coffee drinker, ex-smoker and they work great. I use them about every year or so. The key is to go through the entire system as directed to get max results. The Classic or Renewal line works great. The Premium line didn’t work so good on me but everyone’s different. The Premium line does take shorter time though, you wear them for 7 or 10 days. The Classic 14 days. And Renewal 10 day. I find the Renewal lifts deep stains (claims to remove up to 20 years of stains) but the Classic gave me longer lasting results. Any one of these, you wear for 30 mins a day, twice a day. It may cause some sensitivity. To decrease some of it, don’t brush before use, wear the top/bottom separately, skip a day or allow more time in between each set. Like instead of wearing them back to back, wear a set in the morning and at night. There’s also Crest Multicare, which gradually whitens your teeth. It takes 5 mins a day. I’ve also used the Rembrant whitening strips but no results for me. But my friend has used it and it works good. It’s on sale on Amazon for under $10 which is a good deal. The strips cost about $30. Some dentists offer Crest Supreme too. I’m on that now. It has higher whitening ingredients and larger strips. While on any strips, avoid coffee, soda, tea, smoking, or dark drinks. Or rinse after. I use a whitening toothpaste like Colgate Total whitening or Rembrant whitening (pricey though) to prolong the results. There are more effective whitening options your dentist offers but since you ask for only otc. =) Good luck!

What teeth whitening strips work better after braces?

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I just had my braces taken off and would like my teeth whiter before i start school…

any strip that reallly work?

and if i combine strips with whitening toothpaste will that speed up the process?

I can say that most of my patient's have had some measure of success with the Crest Whitestrips, some more than others. Our office uses the Supreme which are 4 times stronger than what you can get in the store, but the others will work as well but take more time and possibly more than one kit. The results are usually pretty quick, noticeable in the first few days, best in a week or longer. If you can, do yourself the favor of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar, plaque, or orthodontic cement) will impede their ability to work. They will not whiten any white fillings you may have, but whiten uniformly. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). You should not drink or eat anything dark for at least 1/2 hour after using the strips.
The strips/trays are your least costly whitening method as compared to custom made trays or in office whitening ($500.00+) All of the methods (strips, trays, custom trays, in office whitening) have the potential to make your teeth temporarily sensitive, but will not harm the enamel. If you get sensitive use the product every other day in conjunction with a sensitive tooth toothpaste. You might try to drink dark liquids through a straw and don't smoke. Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth and therefore are not so effective. Whatever method you use it will not whiten your teeth for life, as you age your teeth will get darker and may need to be whitened again.

Good luck!

What is the best home teeth whitening kit?

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I'm interesting in whitening my teeth a shade or so, and I can't afford to get it done by the dentist. I wanted to know what is the best whitening kit to buy. Please only recommend if you have tried it or some one you know personally has tried. Thanks!

do this twice a day. once in the morning and before you go to sleep for a week and i can PROMISE you wil see a difference.

Get a ziplok bagie and put some baking soda in and keep in in the washroom. When you brush your teeth, once the toothpaste is on..dip it in the baggie and continue brushing your teeth with the baking soda on the toothbrush. And brush for a full 2 minutes. You need to remove the tough stains on your teeth and it doesnt take 15 seconds to do that.
It might burn the first time a little but thats because you removed everything possible and it wont hurt as bad the second time & so on.

Hope this helps/works..cuz it did 100% for me.

Does a dentist teeth whitening make a big difference on yellow teeth?

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

The local dentist has a special if i get my teeth cleaned they do a free teeth whitening, anyone ever done one of these?
I use crest white strips on & off not consistent to see change as the strips are a sloppy process.

Yeah, the whitening done by dentist are often the best.. But there's also other ways you can to it yourself.

How well do teeth whitening trays from the store work?

Friday, June 5th, 2009

I want to get the teeth whitening trays from the store. Do they work? How long do they take to work?

Teeth whitening is commonly accomplished by applying a bleaching agent to the teeth. The longer the bleaching agent is applied the better it works. Or at least this is how every teeth whitening system is marketed.

The problem is that you really need to use a system that mimics what you would get at a Dentists office but in a more affordable at home do it yourself kit.

You see whitening toothpastes only contain minimal whitening agents and so for the few minutes alone in brushing your teeth it would take an extremely long time to produce any noticeable change.

Whitening “strips” while more effective then toothpaste again only contain mild oxidization activators within the “strip” so here again the results tend to take longer and not as long lasting.

You really need to find a system that is similar to the ones that dentists use, but in a more affordable solution. These tend to work much more effectively and doesn’t cost you hundreds of dollars like a trip to the dentist would.

While there are many great brands out there that follow this “dentists system” but the home teeth whitening system I like is

What is the Best teeth whitening product?

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I've never used any teeth whitening products and I'd like to remove some stains from my teeth. So which one/ones works the best? A d does the white eventually fade back to the same color your tooth was before to where you'd have to whiten them again? If so, how long does the white usually last before it starts to fade?

A super easy quick way to see a difference in your teeth color is using this cheap home recipe with items you have at home.
- Brush your teeth well before you do this.
- Get a Dixie cup and dump in a teaspoon of baking soda
- Next take a cap full (lid) of hydrogen peroxide.
-Mix them together with a normal tooth brush.
- Dab teeth with the mixture or areas you want brighten.
- After you do that for all your teeth, spit out and rinse with water.
- I take a wet wash cloth and clean my teeth.
- THen brush your teeth to get the taste out, drink plenty of water.

This a very quick simple way to brighten your smile. Never do this treatment more than like once a week or a couple times a month bc it can hurt your enamels and gums. If you see that your gums turn white after you finish, its normal just clean with a wash cloth also it just means the peroxide is killing germs. :)

What can I use to whiten my teeth without a dentist or whitening strips?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

I brush and floss daily, but my teeth are still yellowish. I can't afford to get my teeth whitened by a dentist and I don't want to use whitening strips because they haven't helped before. I need suggestions on what I can possibly use instead and how do use it. Thank you!
I'm only 14 years old and I don't drink coffee or smoke.

Try using baking soda mixed with toothpaste. It worked for me. Also, if you smoke and drink dark colored beverages stop because it doesn't help.

What teeth whitening strip product do you suggest?

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

I'm 15 years old and my teeth aren't exactly white, i'm thinking of buying some whitening strips product ( not the floss, or any of those other stuff) so which ones would you recommend? Also it has to be available in like a common store like walgreens, or something cuz i can't shop online. oh ya i forgot to ask is the crest whitening strips that makes your teeth very sensitive a big problem? and does it have a long term effect?

The crest whitening strips make my teeth sensitive. If you are looking for something from your local store, I don't know what to tell you b/c most of that stuff is poor quality. I would recommend finding someone who can order professional whitening products online. Here's a good site with teeth whitening product reviews.

What are the best products for teeth whitening?

Friday, May 1st, 2009

I was wondering what products are the best for teeth whitening?

First, what is a good whitening toothpaste?

Second, what is a good product to use for teeth whitening that doesn’t leave my teeth extremely sensitive? I have heard from multiple people that a lot of the whitening strips leave your teeth very sensitive. Anyone have any experience with a whitening product that does not leave you with extremely sensitive teeth after?

just clean your teeth lol :D
